Win Hill and Crook Hill round (11.5 miles/18.5 km)
Another Dark Peak classic tackling the ramparts of Win Hill. This delightful route takes us on a round of two hills that may just tax (a little) your thighs and calves as you ascend their summits. Win Hill, peaking into the sky like a miniature volcano is followed a few miles later with a climb of Crook Hill just on the other side of Ladybower Reservoir. This shortish route is perfect for a winter’s day, short on daylight hours … best pack the torches though … just in case. Two hills and a tad over ten miles. You couldn’t ask for more!

Personal experiences
For all of you that have ever joined us for one of our hill skills navigation courses on Derwent Edge, you might have spent a moment looking across the landscape ticking off various landmarks. One of them would have been Crook Hill. And for years I observed this odd-named hill from afar and thought “one day I need to walk up that hill”. And so the day came. Linked in with Win Hill it is a wonderful walk that provides great views, few crowds and actually with very little effort! I’d recommend doing it at least twice: clockwise one day, and anti-clockwise the next. Still not sure which is best!
