The Peak District National Park is famed among cyclists for having some of the most spectacular mountain biking in the UK. Will4Adventure’s mountain biking courses aim to open up the area to anyone wishing to begin mountain biking or improve their existing MTB skills. Using highly experienced, knowledgeable local guides, our mountain biking courses are designed to teach and develop for you some new skills and to show you some cracking good rides to boot! .
This is a fun and progressive session completely aimed at your riding needs. For those of you looking for a tailored session focusing exactly on your own individual needs, these half-day and full day sessions will be perfect. Come and talk us to us about what you want to get from your time with us, what is it you want to achieve and we’ll focus a session on exactly that at an appropriate venue. For you to get the most from these sessions, we recommend that these are booked by individuals or pairs.
Ideal for beginners new to mountain biking, this course introduces you to the fundamentals of cycling off-road. The day will incorporate a ride of a moderate distance taking in some classic Peak District mountain biking trails covering these objectives:
Off road ride of around 15 miles
Looking at how to check the mechanical safety of your bike
Bike adjustment for most efficient riding position
Correct riding position for ascent and descent
Braking and weight distribution
Cornering with confidence
Control on steep descents

Planning a route using maps and guidebooks and with consideration for the weather
Introduction to different map scales
How to set the map
Know how and when to use different navigational strategies – handrails, collecting features, catching features, timing
Speed / distance / time considerations
Develop an eye for contours, match major landforms like hills and valleys to their map representation
Orienting the map to the ground
Using a compass to orientate the map to the ground
How to re-orientate yourself if you do get lost
Emergency procedures in case of an incident
A look at use of smart phone for GPS

Essential life saving courses for remote areas. Our two day Outdoor First Aid course is designed for outdoor professionals and enthusiasts with a heavy emphasis on the sorts of injuries and scenarios that you as a mountain biker could face.
Location: Peak District National Park – Youlegreave (weekend courses) Sheffield (week day courses)
Price: £124 Note discounts for early bookings: 8 weeks or more 20% discount = £99
6 weeks or more 15% discount = £105
4 weeks or more 10% discount = £112
Course fee includes first aid manual and first aid certificate valid for three years.

We’ve listed here a few places that offer higher spec mountain bikes for hire. Typically you can expect to pay around £35 per day for hiring a decent bike from these places. For families looking to do a circuit of the reservoirs, lower spec bicycles will be perfect and cost closer to £20 for the day.
