Mountain scrambling is an amazing way to ascend a mountain: it requires experienced route finding, navigational skills, judgement of the weather and sound technical skills when moving on steep ground. These courses aim to cover these areas whilst simultaneously ticking off some wonderful mountain routes! (We also offer guided scrambling days).
Introduction to Scrambling
For those of you with a good head for heights, these guided days and weekends in the mountains of Eyri (Snowdonia), the Lake District and Scotland offer an amazing way to ascend the mountain peaks offering you high airy views and plenty of excitement. Perfect for seasoned walkers and aspirant adventurers!
Location: Grade 1 Scrambles in Snowdonia

- Movement skills masterclass for steep ground
- Guided ascents of classic routes including Tryfan’s North Ridge, Crib Goch, Bristly Ridge and the Llech Ddu Spur (conditions permitting)

Scrambling improver’s course
Learn with the professionals how to safely plan and manage your own days out in the mountains of the UK. This is a two day course for those of you who have tried scrambling before and now want to be able to navigate the easier grades for yourself, learning about the hazards, how to select a route and how to interpret the guide book and then follow a route. This is the best place to start your own independent mountaineering journey.

- Planning and preparation
- Interpretation of environmental factors
- Interpretation of the guide book, route choices
- Route finding
- Basic navigational skills
- Movement skills for steep ground
- Guided ascents of classic routes including Tryfan’s North Ridge, Crib Goch, Bristly Ridge and the Llech Duu Spur (depending upon the weather)
Price per course: £440 (for up to 2 people for 2 days) Add £40 per extra person up to 4 people.

The Advanced Scrambling Course: Learn to Lead
For those of you bitten by the bug and looking to take the adventure further, we take the time to teach you the skills to tackle harder and more committing routes on this 2 day course. The training aims to consolidate the lessons from the Improvers’ course and gain further mountain skills to get you started independently on the harder grades. At a leader to client ratio not exceeding 1:2 you’ll get to sample some fantastic high and airy grade 2 and 3 routes . . . bring it on!
