Climbing holidays – Spain

Autumn/winter 2019
Extend your summer this season and join us for a climbing holiday in Spain. Join us to learn new skills, to improve your climbing, or just to get guided up some terrific multi-pitch sport climbs.

Rock Climbing in the Costa Blanca
Spain’s Costa Blanca offers us the greatest variety of developed rock climbing in the country. From single pitch venues to multi-pitch mountain routes. From the coast to inland a whole host of routes are on offer for us to maximise time spent at this world-class destination. In addition the area is served by the local airport at Alicante, home to various cheap flights airlines, and out of season, there is masses of accommodation options for you to choose from. In essence, for a winter climbing venue this is hard to beat.

Itinerary
Join us for a long weekend or join us for a week. We encourage you however, to book a five day stay in the area and to plan to climb with us for four of those days. This offers an additional layer of flexibility which might just be a midweek, well-earned, rest-day for you.

Each day we normally aim to get to the crag early, around 9am, before the heat of mid-day (but it’s your holiday so we’re flexible). Most of the approaches are short, around 5 – 30mins, giving us plenty of time to climb each day. As we only do private guiding/courses, we will tailor the venues and route choice to you. This might mean single or multi-pitch, guiding, coaching or skills training.

Perhaps you want to learn to lead? No problem. Perhaps you would like to have a big adventure. Maybe you want a fun introduction or advanced rescue skills, anything is possible. We’ll normally aim to be finished around 4:30pm before dark, and ready to head back for your evening meal, and spend time relaxing in this warm and pleasant climate.

Timing
We offer these Spanish rock climbing holidays from October through to December when the weather should be warm and dry and the local towns devoid of the summer crowds!

Price (excluding flights)

Autumn 2019: £599 pp for four days including:

  • UK qualified mountain instructor
  • Use of any technical gear required
  • Possible pick up / drop off from Alicante airport

This price does not cover your accommodation, flights or meals, nor will it cover any individual sightseeing undertaken.

Equipment
The kit list specifically required for this climbing holiday will be sent out to you when you book this trip. You will need your own rock shoes, harness, belay plate and a helmet. In addition a pair of prussiks are advisable. We can provide the ropes and all the technical gear, but if you wish to climb on your own rack we’d suggest bringing around 15 quick draws, a couple of carabiners on slings, and a set of wires too.

Flights to Allicante
For best prices we would recommend checking prices with jet2.com, easyjet.com, flymonarch.com and ryanair.com

How about carbon offsetting your flight here? Climate Care allows you to offset your flight’s emissions by funding sustainable energy projects. From £3 for return flights to Morocco to £47 for flights to NZ – this trip needn’t cost the Earth. Thanks.

Accommodation options in the Costa Blanca
Not every climber knows this, but the Costa Blanca is home to Benidorm! This in turn means that there is an abundance of cheap accommodation options outside of the high summer season. Rather than recommend individual apartments or hotels, we encourage you to find somewhere to stay on the coast in Benidorm or Calpe. (Often you can find flight plus accommodation deals for benidorm which could work out very economical for you). Inland you should aim for apartments and villas in Sella, Finestrat and Villa Joyosa.

Travel Insurance
There are many travel insurers out there, and you are free to choose who you use for this trip. If you have yet to purchase some travel insurance you should do so immediately – some recommended ones that you might like to try for climbing holidays are:
